(MUSICAL NOTE: Hum along with this catchy little tune from last year,
as you read this post, even Elvis is drilling!)
Hold on to your hats and here we goooooooooooooooo!
I loooovvveeee Petrobras!
Well… let’s see now … Petrobras, the big South American Oil Company, is:
1) Finding masses of oil … where Peak Oil says it doesn’t exist,
2) Investing masses of money …. when Peak Oil says it shouldn’t be investing,
3) Developing new technologies …. that Peak Oil says it can’t develop,
4) Drilling … where Peak Oil says it is impossible to drill.
I LOVE THE MALVINAS BASIN!
Even my FUN new book, and my new found friend Robin M. Mills, looovvveeesss Petrobras!….
As does my other Christmas reading book.
Independent and dependent oil experts are now writing books and lining up against the Peak Oilers.
… It seems that since oil dropped from $147 in July to $33 in December …lots of oil is being found everywhere.
Fun times ahead for the Peak Oil religion!.. who are VERY quiet now.
Even our own lovable UNT (2 Jan page A21) is left wondering what’s happening…
…or from SvD with the same article:
Will the next bubble be The Alternative Energy Bubble?
(like the previous Oil, Housing and DotCom bubbles)
We shall have to wait and see… but… right now our fun loving politicians, all around the world, are pouring billions of dollars/pounds etc into wind, solar and bio energy … massive computer and venture capital companies are jumping on the bandwagon … the hype seems to be going up and up …so likely more fun times ahead again!
no Science in Society Update would be complete without….yep…you guessed it!
Since today (5 Jan) is The 12th Day of Christmas then let’s finish off with this merry jingle.
It comes via the world’s leading Anti-AGW (anthropogenic global warming) web site,
now with about 1 million people visiting it every month …
(3 times greater than the leading pro-AGW site RealClimate, a sign of changes to come?)
See you in 2009 soon.
PS. And it’s great to read too that the world continued to get better in 2008 even despite the usual silly political shenanigans.
